OTHER INTERN INFORMATION

  • Thrive interns have completed their master’s degree coursework and are in the last stages of their training, prior to receiving their license as a clinical counsellor or provisional psychologist.

  • Thrive interns are closely supervised by a team of experienced psychologists, counsellors and supervisors on the Thrive team.

  • While most insurance plans do not cover student interns, there are some plans that do offer intern coverage, under the supervision of a psychologist. Please check with your individual provider and plan. Direct billing is not available for student interns

  • Thrive offers Jordan’s Principle Indigenous counselling coverage will all of our therapists (please call regarding this option)

Master’s Clinical Intern

My name is Aly, and I am a Clinical Counsellor intern currently completing my Master of Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. My passion is to support children and teens as they navigate unique challenges through pivotal life stages. With an education background and experience working with children aged 5–18, I bring both empathy and insight to my therapeutic practice

My approach to therapy is rooted in person-centred care. I believe in creating a collaborative, respectful partnership between client and therapist, whereby each individual’s unique needs are honored. I understand that beginning therapy can feel intimidating; my goal is to offer a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental space in which you feel comfortable expressing yourself. I also use a strength-based approach to help clients recognize and build their inner strengths to boost confidence and resilience.

I warmly welcome clients of all cultural backgrounds, religions, sexual orientations, and gender identities.

My areas of focus include anxiety, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), depression, body image, conflict resolution, and self-esteem.

When I’m not at Thrive, you can find me walking my two dogs—Rudy, a Whoodle, and Daisy, aCockapoo. I also love baking, traveling, golfing, reading thrillers and bike rides.
